Cell: 937-308-1536

From humble beginnings Deron Brown, through hard work and dedication, has become an elite member of the mid-west umpiring community. He has shown many qualities as he developed as an umpire, umpire clinician and umpire supervisor. He has been fortunate to hold leadership roles at the high school, collegiate and independent professional levels.

Deron started his umpiring career in 1986 working the Teener league (14-16U) baseball in his home town of Troy, Ohio. As an umpire Deron worked his way up from Teener league baseball (1986) to high school baseball, including 4 state tournament appearances.

He started working college baseball in 1995. He began by working D3 NCAA baseball. This included 12 conference tournaments, 5 regionals and 1 D3 world series appearance. He is ending his career as a D1 NCAA umpire working in the MAC, AAC and BIG10.

Deron has also decided to work on the umpire administrative side. He has served as the assignor for the American Mid-East Conference (NAIA), Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (NCAA D3), North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAA D3),

In his umpiring/assigning career Deron is so appreciative for the amazing people he has had the honor of meeting. He was fortunate enough to have had many great umpiring and leadership mentors which include; Max McLeary, Rich Houseman, Jim Merz, Jim Schaly and Rich Fetchiet. Each person in his unique way has guided and taught Deron the skills and philosophies that have served him so well. Without their help and support, Deron believes that he would never have had the success he has enjoyed.

Deron wears many hats. Besides his significant baseball activities, he is in his thirtieth year as a high school physics and chemistry teacher. Deron is the proud father to his two sons as well as a step father to one son and three daughters. His oldest son, Chase, is a veteran who served one tour of duty in Afghanistan. His youngest son, Cooper, has Downs Syndrome and has brought joy to his life. He is also the doting grandfather to three little girls. Deron has been lucky enough to have found the love of his life later in life. He and Jane enjoy travelling and being with their growing family.

Deron has enjoyed his time in baseball and hopes to continue to be a positive influence for the game he loves so much.
